Review request email template (that actually gets replies)

A short, polite review request email template — plus the timing, subject lines, and SMS variants that double your Google review rate.

The best review request email template is the one that actually gets sent. Short, on time, and easy to act on. Here's what works for service businesses.

The template

Subject: Quick favor, {{first_name}}?

Hi {{first_name}}, really enjoyed working with you on {{job}}. If you've got 30 seconds, a Google review makes a huge difference for a small business like ours. Here's the link: {{review_link}}. Thanks either way — appreciate you.

When to send it

48–72 hours after the job is done. Long enough that they've enjoyed the result, short enough that the memory is fresh. Earlier feels pushy, later feels random.

SMS version (often outperforms email)

Hey {{first_name}}, {{your_name}} here — thanks again for letting us handle {{job}}. If you'd be up for a quick Google review, here's the link: {{review_link}}. No pressure!

Two rules that double your reply rate

  1. Direct link. Use Google's place-ID URL so it opens straight to the review form. Don't make them search.
  2. One ask, no fluff. Don't bundle the review request with an upsell, newsletter, or referral pitch. One request per message.

Stop forgetting to ask
